Telekom Romania Communications, the leading Romanian TV operator, announced the rollout starting from October of a new IPTV solution, with Zenterio OS – Zenterio’s software platform – as a key component.
• Zenterio’s software will form the foundation for new interactive TV services. The deal is the third Zenterio OS rollout within the Deutsche Telekom Group in a short time. By selecting Zenterio’s independent solution, Telekom Romania Communications (formerly Romtelecom) now joins Slovak Telekom and Magyar Telekom, which were first out within Deutsche Telekom’s nine TV markets to standardize its software platforms.
“The Telekom Romania rollout of Zenterio OS is yet another confirmation that Zenterio provides the software solution that large TV operators, such as Deutsche Telekom, need to deliver innovative TV experiences to their customers,” says Robin Rutili, CEO of Zenterio. “In addition, this deal is a clear example of how Zenterio’s strategic partnership with Viaccess-Orca has led to a joint development of a powerful interactive TV offering.”
Deutsche Telekom controls Telekom Romania Communications, which recently changed its name from Romtelecom.
Zenterio’s operating system will form the foundation for Telekom Romania Communications’ effort to expand its IPTV service offerings – starting with the launch of a multi-screen service developed by Swedish Accedo. Telekom Romania’s launch of a complete IPTV solution involves Zenterio’s partner Viaccess-Orca, as a system integrator; Verimatrix, as a conditional access system provider; and Kaon, as the set-top-box manufacturer.
“The launch of an innovative, multi-screen service is just the beginning of Telekom Romania’s major effort to expand its IPTV service offerings to our customers,” says Mathias Hanel, Chief Commercial Officer at Telekom Romania operations. “Zenterio’s software solution will be a very important component in realizing this.”
Zenterio has seen a sharp increase in demand from TV operators for its independent operating system. Via Zenterio’s strategic partnership with Viaccess-Orca, Zenterio’s software platform is currently available to half of the world’s largest TV platforms. Zenterio’s license base of 1.7 million (per June 30, 2014) is expected to grow significantly in the second half of 2014.
