Hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the United Arab Emirates, CABSAT is the largest Media, Broadcast and Content Convention in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region. During this, its 21st installment, the convention drew 900 exhibitors from 60 countries and more than 13,000 trade visitors over the course of the three day event.
CABSAT covers the creation, exchange, management, distribution and monetization of content and is aimed at bringing together the world’s leading content producers and connecting them with every imaginable delivery platform. This year the main talking points centered around DVB-T2, the African transition from analogue to digital and ultra HD.
Coming together to discuss these things were local, regional and international operators, vendors and service providers, who gathered for three days of exciting product launches, technology demonstrations, meetings and networking events. Something that was complemented by the organizers who offered an expanded schedule of conferences, training sessions and seminars.
All together this made for an exciting event where we had the opportunity to meet with both key actors within the region as well as with current and prospective customers. As this convention covers a large geographical area the technology and the challenges that we face are very diverse. The UAE and parts of South East Asia are far along in their technological update but there are still opportunities to be had. As for the less developed market we realized that the region in parts suffer from instability and that the state of the technical equipment is somewhat outdated. But there are certainly still potential there, so to get in early on this emerging market and be able to offer a cost efficient solution will be key for future wins
