To support its rapidly expanding global IPTV presence, the operator has chosen to license Zenterio’s hardware independent operating system, with the intention of deploying it for the central European market initially and later possibly also across their global network.
One of the world’s largest quad play* service providers (the Operator) with existing or planned pay-TV operations in several European countries, Latin American and Australia, has decided to license Zenterio’s operating system (Zenterio OS). The license includes a Zenterio software development toolkit (SDK), allowing them to develop their own digital interactive services and customized graphical user interfaces. The SDK may also be used by other third party software suppliers and application developers to make their own direct integrations towards Zenterio OS, thereby significantly increasing the Operator’s flexibility as well as reducing overall development costs and time to market for new services and applications.
The Operator wishes to harmonize the STB software environment across all their markets and the Zenterio OS and the SDK are fundamental elements in achieving this objective. In addition, the Operator has identified ways to significantly lower set-top box hardware cost going forward as Zenterio’s hardware independent operating system allows for a more transparent and effective sourcing of STB hardware among manufactures.
Integration of Zenterio’s software solution will take place during 2012 and first software licenses, for their next generation of digital hybrid set-top boxes (STBs) to be deployed in existing and new subscriber bases, due to be delivered in early 2013.
“ We are pleased to receive yet another confirmation that our value proposition is attractive to large, global operators. Pay-TV operators are clearly looking to harmonize their STB software environment in order to lower both Capex and Opex, but above all, establish the necessary platform from which they are able to rapidly launch new advanced interactive services and applications.
In this specific instance, we have established a strategic long term relationship with a fast moving operator that has a focus on new service and application delivery. Zenterio will help this operator to create a TV service offering with a truly individual user experience linking mobile devices to social networking over a standard STB software. Within this large group, regional affiliates will benefit from centralised developments yet have the ability to add their local flavour on top” says Robin Rutili, CEO Zenterio Group
